About the event
Psyched for this! We will be playing this gig with our friends CFG & the Family, out of Hamilton Ohio. We met CFG & the Family in Memphis last year at the International Blues Challenge, where many of you know we were semi-finalists. CFG & the Family were finalists. We played at Wet Willies with them early on during the week in the quarterfinals. And they eventually went on to play the finals at the Orpheum Theater, placing in the top 6 bands out of hundreds.
These guys play all over the Midwest area. They are an incredible band and a good group of guys. We are excited to host them in our neck of the woods for this weekend. They'll be at Sandbar in Saugatuck Saturday night (June 21st, 9pm - 1am) and then Sandy Point Beach House in West Olive Sunday afternoon (12-4pm). Don't miss it, we'll see you there.
Cincy Music had this to say about CFG & the Family:
"Based out of Hamilton, OH, CFG & The Family is a force to be reckoned with.
The band’s performance has been described as the following: “It’s like standing knee-deep in a Louisiana swamp in mid-August while drinking a top-shelf bourbon, and sharing a slice of pecan pie with Al Green. Hot, sweaty, warming your insides, satisfying that sweet with a little gospel.”
With influences deeply rooted in the blues, soul, funk, rock, and jazz genres, CFG & the Family aims to captivate with soul-shouting vocals, bluesy harmonica, slide guitar, and a solid and seasoned rhythm section. With a range of talent spanning several decades, these musicians are focused on delivering modern blues and soul music with a nod to the past"
The band’s CD, “CFG & the Family” also won the CD Challenge at the Cincy Blues Challenge event last summer and represented the Cincy Blues Society in Memphis. The band’s songs can be found on Spotify, YouTube and other music platforms.
